This fact sheet provides the latest statistical data on sedentary behaviour in different age groups, including:
- current levels among children and young people across the four home countries
- adult levels of sedentary behaviour in the UK.
This fact sheet summarises the available research on sedentary behaviour in the four home countries. Much of the existing research focuses solely on television (TV) viewing or other screen based activities.

- Television viewing increases with age for children and young people.
- Boys generally watch more television than girls.
