UK physical activity guidelines say that children under five should be active for at least 180 minutes (3 hours) spread throughout the day. Childcare settings and schools are ideally placed to encourage children to be on the move.
This fact sheet provides simple ideas for encouraging activity within your setting. Getting children active doesn't need to be difficult or complicated, at this age it really just means giving them time for active play and to explore their own environment.
In your early years setting there are many simple things you can do to incorporate physical activity throughout the day to get your tots more active. It may not be realistic to implement every single idea and you may already be doing some of them.
