Informing the professionals of tomorrow

Dr David Broom is a Senior Lecturer at Sheffield Hallam University. He uses a range of our services to help him in his work as a Senior Lecturer and Researcher.

“For me, your team is the governing body of physical activity and health for the UK. It is the go to organisation that has got credibility and experts working in the area.”

As a Senior Lecturer on the Physical Activity, Sport and Health degree programme, he shares our resources and information with his students – or as he likes to call them “the physical activity and health professionals of the future”. Students predominantly use the evidence briefings as readings to gain an in depth knowledge of a particular area. He says, “I know that the people writing the documents have got the credibility and are drawing on relevant sources to inform that. Your work is all about translating evidence into practice and that is something that you do very well.”

David receives the weekly physical activity news bulletins and uses them to keep him up-to-date with the latest information. As a great advocate, he encourages his students to sign up to receive them to increase their breadth of knowledge of the physical activity landscape. David embeds information and resources into his teaching sessions and often uses the bulletins to start discussions about latest physical activity developments.
